Another snow storm and epic pass crossing over 5,300m. Waist deep snow in many places, but mostly thigh deep. We are constantly falling through, often having to dig each others feet out. First day anyone has crossed this year. Now safe in Shey Gompa, snowed in by three passes! We are staying in the oldest … Continue reading sat phone update May 7

sat phone update May 5
1pm and we are at a sweet camp spot at 4700m in sun, in singlets! Been watching himalayan tahr and marmots. Had a snow storm yesterday and bivvied under a rock. Day before we camped with Tibetan nomads, great times around the fire with them and we managed to buy four cups of rice - … Continue reading sat phone update May 5
A short update 17 April
They are safe, Dulkara was 5 min from finishing the latest blog update but the power went out again. They are making a detour tomorrow to get new camera batteries after the crazy power supply fried the old batteries. They haven’t been able to take photos for the last two weeks. Dulkara is hoping to … Continue reading A short update 17 April
Mugu and Lower Dolpa districts (Dulkara)
I feel like I’ve blinked and we’re four weeks in. Now well and truly settled into the routines of life on foot, our bodies have become accustomed to two servings of dahl baht each day and the joy of carrying a constant load. Or at least as accustomed as they ever will be.
Sat phone update 7 April
Just as we were cranking the climbs, it was Dulkara’s time to get properly sick. Raging fever with intense temps and all sorts of other symptoms. To balance it out a little Tom got bed bugs! Somehow we still we are still managing to laugh at ourselves. We just left Urthu, a town 5 km … Continue reading Sat phone update 7 April
Far Western Nepal (Dulkara)
I sit here, struggling to come up with the words to adequately describe our journey through Far Western Nepal. Somehow I already know that I will be reflecting upon this adventure for a long time after I return home. Now, amidst the craziness, is almost too soon to make sense of it. My mind is … Continue reading Far Western Nepal (Dulkara)
Sat phone update March 25
Momentous occasion - we have walked off our first map! Bit behind schedule but great considering Tom's terrible bug. Took a while to get used to 24kg packs, now both feeling strong and ready to hit real altitude in a few days. Stayed in Martadi last night. Rara in 3 or 4 days. Incredible journey … Continue reading Sat phone update March 25
Sat phone update 19th March
We have not made it far. Tom is on a rapid weight loss programme already - the diarrhoea and vomiting bug since the second day. Nothing to be worried about, just the usual travellers bug, slowly getting used to the local food. Resting at the moment, around 2500m, Himalayan foothills. Lovely locals, learning basic Nepali … Continue reading Sat phone update 19th March
Darchula (Dulkara)
A super quick update - just letting you know that we have arrived safely in Darchula, our starting point. It's on the far Western border of Nepal and India. India is just across the river :)It was a mission to get here - the last leg was a 19.5 hour local bus journey. Those of … Continue reading Darchula (Dulkara)
